Blogtember Day #17- What Am I Listening To?

Blog

Bonjour!

It seems that my favourite artists haven’t released music in forever, but all of a sudden they’ve all decided to release stuff in the same month. Thanks guys.

1. If you need to know one thing about me, it’s that I am a massive fan of The Killers. Since the age of 14 they have consumed my life. You know when you love someone to the point of hate? That’s my feels towards The Killers. I’ve seen them live 4 times, and this November will be my fifth. I’m super excited because since I became a fan in 2009, they’ve actually only released one album as a band (solos in the meantime). Their fifth album Wonderful Wonderful will be realised on 22nd September (a day before my birthday) so singles keep cropping up on Spotify and it’s an exciting time for Killers fans. The song that caught my attention is called Run for Cover. It’s great. Give if a listen if you find the chance.

2. I think I have a problem. A Harry Styles related problem… (don’t we all have one of those?) I literally cannot stop listening to his debut solo album. It’s pure love. There isn’t a song on it that I skip and his voice… *heart eyes emoji*. Don’t get me wrong, I miss 1D like crazy, but if this is the alternative, it’s not a bad one.

3. On the topic of 1D: Niall. Now, I liked This Town and I liked Slow Hands a bit more. But the one I’ve had on repeat is Too Much To Ask. In fact, I’m not gonna lie to you, I’ve played it three times already whilst writing this. It’s such a good song and I just love it. Is there anything more pure than Niall Horan? I think not.

4. Jake Bugg, who? Like, didn’t he just fall off the edge of the Earth after Lightning Bolt? Well, it would seem not. He’s back with a new album (Hearts That Strain) and oh my god, I think it’s his best yet. I don’t really know what happened with the marketing of this album, but I’m a big fan of his and I was barely aware it was coming out. I can imagine it’s just got lost in the stream of albums that are constantly coming out, which is a shame because it’s really really amazing. I’ve missed you, Bugg.

5. Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do. Okay, I looooove Taylor, but I can’t seem to get my head around this one. I’ve been listening to it non-stop to try and get into it, but I’m not so sure. I just wish old Taylor could come to the phone 😦 Lemme know what you think of it.

I’d love to hear what you’re listening to lately!

Q&A: Get to Know Me Tag…

Blog, Q&A

Bonjour!

Thank you so much for all of your Q&A questions! I absolutely love doing these. Let’s get straight into it, shall we?

What are your favourite high street shops?

As you can see from most of my hauls and OOTDs, I absolutely love Primark and, genuinely, don’t know what I ever did before it (does anyone?!). Honestly, if I’m looking for anything I will always check Primark first. I do also love New Look and H&M and I’m also a sucker for Zara if I’m looking at spending a lil bit more…

Do you remember your first make-up item?

Yes! I went into Tammy Girl (REMEMBER THAT?!) one day and they were selling a roll-on clear lip-gloss with floating silver heart confetti in it. I remember absolutely plastering it on and I can still remember the smell… amazing.

Who would you say is your number 1 fashion inspiration?

I try, and fail, to follow more of an ‘indie/alternative’ fashion style, so I love people like Alexa Chung and Suki Waterhouse (I WISH, RIGHT!?). But honestly, I love Zoe Sugg’s (Zoella’s) style and tend to buy a lot of what she wears. Not only do I love her style, but I kind of know what she wears will suit me too as we have a similar body shape. Not to mention that she shops on the high street, so more often than not you can buy her EXACT outfit- PERF!

Celebrity crush?

Harry Styles. Is that even a question?

What is the one thing your readers would be surprised to hear?

I’m only 22 but have worked for nearly 5 years as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, and I love it! I’m an aspiring Student Welfare Officer as I’d love to help teens get through the tough school years…

Where is your favourite place to be?

I have two… My happy place is a place called Fingle Bridge, which is a National Trust forest on Dartmoor. I just adore it. It’s so beautiful and inspires me when writing so much. And the second is home, in my bed, obvs.

Do you have any pets?

I have a LOVELY lil black cat called Roxy. We got her when I was 12 and although she’s a dribbly old lady, I love her with all my mushy (crazy cat lady) heart.

What is your favourite song at the moment?

I’m a massive music fan and love everything from 1D to Joy Division. My all time fave band is The Killers and they’ve just released a new song called ‘Run for Cover‘, so obvs gotta say that 😉FullSizeRender (12)

Concerts and Anxiety…

Blog

Between the ages of 15 and 22, going to concerts was pretty much my hobby. I have been to around 60+ concerts in my life and when I look back on some of them, honestly, they were some of the best times of my life.

Often, I would go and see a band or artist I completely and utterly adored (these included The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs etc etc…). For these kind of concerts I would queue outside the venue for hours on end just to get to the barrier. These were also some great times- I met some of my best, life long, friends in a queue! And then the frantic squish and elbowing to get to the front was ruthless, but somewhat enjoyable. (Legit had my ankle fractured by a girl stamping on my foot in Docs to get to the front at Jake Bugg).

The barrier experience was always magical. To be honest with you, I’d forgotten this feeling until very recently, and now I’m yearning for it again.

Here’s the issue…

My anxiety has become a real problem to me in the last year, and some of my worst anxiety/panic attacks have been at concerts. Because of this, I’ve completely lost my confidence to even go to concerts, let alone queue for hours with strangers and squash myself amongst them all, with no quick exit at the front of the barrier. I just don’t trust myself to not have a panic attack.

Having recently gone to a concert, (The Script- who I used to LOVE) I’ve rediscovered the absolutely amazing feeling I used to feel when at a concert. However, enjoying it from the back, or a seat, just isn’t the same.

I really hope that one day I’ll be able to get my confidence back and be as fiesty and care-free at concerts as my 16 year old self once was! For now though, I will be enjoying The Killers’ November tour from a seat. Which sucks tbh…. DAMN YOU ANXIETY.

P.s. Can we please bring an end to that thing guys do when they try to pass you in a gig crowd and put their hands on your waist?! Like, dnt touch me pls.

STAY COOL.

Lots a’ love,

ElectricEmily
