Blogtember Day #30- Work Primark Haul!!

For the last day of September, I went shopping to get some more clothes for work (I barely have any)! Sorry if it’s not very exciting but some bits are lovely and autumn-y so stay tuned!

Okay, so this first item is not for work (great start, Em) but I just had to get it. It’s a really cosy and soft jumper with Beauty and the Beast embroidered characters. £15, so not the cheapest thing Primark has ever sold, but cute and kinda worth it.

Next is a very un-exciting black pencil skirt. It’s kind of a t-shirt material so it’s stretchy, which makes it a lot easier to move about in, hopefully! This one was £5 and goes with everything, right?

Staying with the bottom half, I picked up a pair of navy blue cropped smart/work trousers. They’re a lovely fit and look smart for work, so you can’t really go wrong. And thy have pockets- hurrah!!

I was, at first, disgusted with the very notion of roll-neck jumpers in Primark. I actually picked this one up by accident and threw it back down in disgrace. However, I thought about it for a bit and thought how lovely it would look with a scarf and a pair of loose fitting trousers, like the ones above, for work. So I went for it. I’ve yet to try it out in the work environment and get a teenager’s verdict, but I like it.

I absolutely love this shirt, but again, I don’t know how it’ll work in practice just yet. It’s such a lovely baby pink shade with a breast pocket and pearls sewn onto the collar. Simple and so cute. And only £5!

Can you ever have too many scarfs for work in the winter? I literally live in them. This one is soooo cute. It’s a navy blue with gold stars all over it. I am in love with it. And it looks so expensive! £4.

Okay, so these next two aren’t from Primark, but I thought I’d share them with you anyway. They’re the same style (I actually already have a beige one), one is yellow and one is bright orange.

They’re from H&M and only £8.99, but they’re such a lovely fit. I wore one to work yesterday and got so many compliments! And the colours are so so so lovely for autumn! I’m kind of happy Halloween is on a work day, so I can wear the orange one then! 🙂
Hope you enjoyed this post, and all of my posts throughout Blogtember! I’m sad to be seeing Blogtember coming to an end, but it’s just got me more excited about Blogmas!!! Obviously I’ll be posting before then, so stay tuned and in touch! Thank you for all your support, reads, likes and comments throughout the month- love you lots!

Blogtember Day #27- The Dentist!!

Sorry for this short blog post today. I have been to the dentist and am currently dying (slight exaggeration). Okay, so on Boxing Day, yes, that long ago, I managed to fracture my tooth on a potato wedge. And since then I’ve visited the dentist five times!! They haven’t managed to fix it and now I’m going through the process of having a crown fitted! Fingers crossed this’ll work and I’ll be able to eat nice crunchy things again on both sides of my mouth…. the dream!

Anyway, my mouth and face is currently numb and swollen and I look like a dribbling mess. The anaesthetic I’ve been given is so strong I just want to sleep…. so that’s what I’m going to do.

Good night!

P.s. Here’s a pic of me from yesterday when my face was of normal proportions.

Blogtember Day #22- My Lip Collection

Today, I’m going to share with you my collection of lip products. I have a lot more than this but I didn’t want to bore you. These are my faves.

I’m going out tonight for a birthday meal and I can’t decide which colour to go for!!

1) My ‘top brand’ lip product is YSL’s no. 1, bright red lip stick. This is a classic and absolutely beautiful.

However, I find this one doesn’t stay on very well, especially when eating and drinking, so maybe not the best one for going out for a meal…

2) This next one is a Primark Complete Crayon, Lip & Cheek. I’ve never actually used it for my cheeks, but I love the lip colour. This one’s in the shade Heartbreak. It’s a really nice berry, purple-y colour.

It gives such a nice gloss and omg you would not believe how long it lasts! It’s honestly better than my YSL for staying put.

3) Up next, its the Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses lip tint & balm. One end is like a felt tip pen tint and the other is a balm for gloss. Again, a really nice colour but doesn’t stay on too well. I also find this one bleeds quite badly and it all comes off apart from the edges of the lips, which looks a bit weird.

Still, it’s a really nice shade and quite subtle, which I like.

4) Again, a Primark lip crayon (can you tell I like these?) This one is in the shade Bare All. As you might know, I love a nude lip, so this one is fab.

And again, great gloss and perf at staying on for a long time.

5) Last, but (deffo) not least, the W7 Mega Matte Lips in the shade Two Bob. I absolutely looooove this colour and I am really in love with a matte lip at the moment.

Just look at the colour and the matt-i-ness!! I think this is the one, guys….

Hope you enjoyed my run-through of my lip collection, lemme know what you like!

What’s In My Travel Make Up Bag?

A few weeks ago, my family and I went away for a few days to Startford-Upon-Avon. I realised that, although I don’t go on many holidays abroad, a travel the UK quite a lot and stay away for just a few nights at a time. Going away from home for one or two nights can be a challenge when deciding what size bag to use, what to take with you, and what make-up to pack!

I’m going to share with you the things I decide to put into my make up bag when travelling for a few days/nights at a time. You don’t want to haul around your entire make up collection with you, but you still need the essentials, BUT WHAT ARE THE ESSENTIALS I hear you cry! Well, these are mine…

Firstly, I take a different make up bag with me, as my usual one is much too big. I’ve got this cute little Beauty & the Beast one which came from Primark. It’s the medium size one.

Foundation. I take my daily-use drugstore Rommel foundation with me, as I don’t want to take more than one bottle with me, and I don’t usually need my ‘going-out’ foundation. This Rimmel one covered all basis when you’re packing light. 🙂

Concealer. Obviously I need to take a concealer! I sometimes put this little Collection one in my handbag when I’m away, because I may be out for a long time and might not have a ‘base’ to get back to to reapply a full face of make up.

Highlight and Contour. I have this duo highlight and contour palette by Collection. But I think if I didn’t have this compact little palette then I probably wouldn’t take any highlight or contour as it’s not really an essential (shhhh!)

Blusher. Gotta add some definition to your face, wherever you are! This is just a tiny little ‘natural collection’ blusher- my go-to!

Mascara. I tend to pack my Natural Collection waterproof mascara when I’m going away just because it’s not as full-on as my usual Rimmel false lash one. Also, if you’re caught in the rain, it’s not going to be running down your face!

Eye liner. Sometimes I will pack my Soap and Glory liquid eyeliner because it’s a good substitute for eye shadow! I’ll also pack a simple pencil eye liner that I use on my lower lash-line. Simple and every-day but gives a good effect and a smokey eye look.

Brow powder. Instead of taking my brow gel or pencil, a brow powder is a much more simple way to go. This is a Collection pressed one in a tiny little pot.

Brushes. I will usually only pack a little wedge sponge for foundation and concealer application, a big brush for highlight and contour and a small angled brush for brow powder. Simple!

I will sometimes pack a little eye shadow palette, but only if I know I will be going out or if it’s an essential, but usually it’s not and the liquid eye liner is enough.

Hope you enjoyed this post, I’d love to know what you pack in your travel make up bag!

Primark Make-Up Review

Make-up from Primark?! Are you insane?! So I was wondering around Primarni, like I do on most days, and noticed that their make-up and beauty section is HUGE and their range is so much better than it used to be. I had a look through and decided to try some products and do a little review for you. So here we go…

Let’s start with make-up, more specifically, lip crayons.

These ones are actually called ‘lip and cheek crayons’ but I haven’t actually been brave enough to try them on my cheeks! I picked up a nude, which is really nice but a little bit too light for me, so probably the one I would wear least often.

The second one is the one is a darker shade, and more purple-y, which I love and I feel like it’s going to be my go-to lip colour for autumn.

These crayons are surprisingly really nice! They are so smooth and creamy and you won’t believe how long they stay on for! I honestly feel like these stay on longer than my YSL lippy (I know, what a claim!!) But these definitely get a 10/10, I just wish they had more shades as it’s quite limited at the moment.

Brow gel! I went for this because I’ve always used eye shadow powder to fill in my brows, so I thought I’d go all out and buy an actual brow product (adventurous)! The brush that comes with this one is like a mascara wand, so quite hard to apply, and it needs to be brushed in with a smaller, angled brush to fill.

It is a really nice product when I want super dark brows, and can they ever be too dark?! And it takes a bit longer to use this product than the eye shadow, so I don’t generally use it when I have work, as I’m normally in a rush! Ha! But if I’m going out and want to make more of a effort then this gel is the go-to.

Here’s me, pointing at my brows…..(?)

Onto bronzer. I picked this up because I actually needed a new bronzer, so instead of spending my usual £18, I thought I’d try this £2.50 one!

I usually just use a big brush and blend all three shades to bronze. I won’t lie, I absolutely love this one. For £2.50, the effect it gives is BEAUTIFUL and gives a really lovely shimmer, and actually makes me look like I’ve been out in the sun (for once!!) This is what it looks like on… I’m normally super pale.

Onto other products, and here are some brushes! Primark brushes are actually all you need. I have used higher-end brushes but, in all honesty, I don’t see that much difference! The Primark ones do the job, and their variety is great! (And they’re rose gold, so what else could you want?!) At £1-£2.50 price range, you can’t argue.

And finally, brush cleaner. I have actually never used a brush cleaner before. I usually throw them away once they’re too caked!! This cleaner is excellent. It does the job, it cleans the brushes perfectly well and they dry super-quickly! And £2!

Hope you enjoyed this post! I think it just proves and you don’t have to spend a fortune for a lovely make-up look!

Debenhams Make-Up Haul and Favourites!

So although I haven’t been posting much, I really wanted to do this one…

Recently, I was gifted a Debenhams voucher and, I’ll admit, had absolutely no idea what I was going to spend it on. I never ever ever shopped in Debenhams. HOWEVER, the make-up counters on the other hand….. (*smug emoji face*).

Here are a few things I picked up whilst there. I haven’t included everything I bought because, I’ll be honest, not all of what I bought was actually that good. So I’m only going to include the stuff I absolutely LOVE.

1) First of all, the most beautiful item anyone can ever buy with £39THE TOO FACED SWEET PEACH PALETTE. There is absolutely no denying the pure aesthetically pleasing beauty of this palette- AND THE SMELL. It is beyond belief. The colours are all gorgeous and, honestly, I would wear them all (obv not all at the same time), which is a bold statement for me! Whether you are going for a pinky look (which I generally do go for a nude eye shadow), or smokey, this palette has it all. Well worth the money in my (SHIMMERY AND PEACHY) eyes.

2) Next, I’m barely moving away from 1)… ANOTHER TOO FACED PALETTE!! This one is the TOO FACED NATURAL LOVE EYE SHADOW PALETTE. And I will apologise in advance. This product is SO BEAUTIFUL, but unfortunately, a lil bit pricey at a whopping £52… Though actually not bad on the scale of things. And totally worth it, let me tell you. I am a massive sucker for champagne, pinky and neutral shimmery tones, so this palette is just perfection. Personal faves are the ‘Bunny Nose’ and ‘Love Bug‘ shades. And ‘Fairytale‘ is a beaut too for more of a ‘going out’ shimmery gold shade! 🙂 GUYS I THINK I’M IN LOVE.

3) Foundation! And I needed just a new foundation that I was familiar with- I’d just run out but I didn’t want to just have my ‘every day’ Rimmel 25 hour. I wanted to have a back-up for a fuller coverage for nights out and evenings etc. So I decided not to go for a super pricey one and stay sensible. I went for an oldie, but a goodie- the BENEFIT ‘HELLO FLAWLESS OXYGEN WOW’ LIQUID FOUNDATION. This is a great full-coverage long-lasting foundation, and I personally love it because of it’s dewyness (although does require powder in flash-photography-WOW EW). I find it’s not heavy on my skin and doesn’t make me feel all cloggy (nice word…) You know what I mean though. And only £29. An ol’ reliable!

4) Brows! I desperately needed an eye brow product/tool/SOMETHING other than the eye shadow I was using to fill in my brows. Tbh I’m not even angry about doing that- I find that some of my fave eye brow products to fill-in have actually been eye shadows applied with an angled brush. Anyway, I thought I’d treat myself to a proper pencil. This one is the URBAN DECAY ‘BROW BEATER’ PENCIL AND BRUSH. It comes in at £16 and does the job. It’s great at filling in the gaps and making your brows look darker, which is what I’m all about…

5) Concealer is always a tricky one for me. I am still, and forever will be, obsessed with my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer, which is great because its PERF and only like £5 in Boots. But I thought I’d try out a new brand. The BOBBI BROWN INSTANT FULL COVER CONCEALER caught my eye and, I’ll be honest, does the job. It was £23, however! It’s nice and smooth and dewy, which means I don’t have to powder under my eyes because this concealer already brightens in itself. But I may find it hard to be dragged away from my trusty Collection! D:

6) Lips, and I pushed the boat out with this one. I honestly had no idea what to go for so took a bit of a leap. I’d seen a few people raving about ‘lipglass’ by MAC. This one is the VERSICOLOUR STAIN, and I went for the shade ‘Long Live the Night’, just because I love a nude. It cost £18.90 and, I’ll be honest, was not a disappointment. Have to admit, it doesn’t stay on for as long as a few others I’ve tried by NYX or Kylie Cosmetics, but it’s a lovely shade and shimmer and it really feels like I have nothing at all on my lips! In fact, sometimes I forget I’m wearing it and smudge it all off by accident… Just me? Whoops.

7) AND FINALLY, TOOLS! So, I’ll be honest, this one did not come from Debenhams… their brush sets in Debenhams were HUNDREDS OF POUNDS! (Well, maybe not hundreds, but they were a lot of money and, tbh, a lot of the brushes I didn’t need, so didn’t really need to be spending that kind of money.) I found this set online from ColorPop, which I believe is an American Company (or Australian, I’m not sure… their pricing is in dollars). This set cost me $78, approx. £60. The set includes a Large Powder brush, a Blush brush, an Angled Face brush, a Stippling brush, a Fan brush, a Small Fluff brush, Small Eye Shadow Shader brush, Medium Eye Shadow Shader brush, Blending brush, Tapered Blending brush, Pencil brush, and Angled Eye brush. This set really is value for money and I find that there is a brush in this set for anything, and I mean ANY THING. Even though this set isn’t available on the high street, it’s easy to find on their website:

Really hope you’ve enjoyed this post! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like me to do a post about! Also, let me know if you’ve tried any of these products and what you think, or if you’ve found any other products you think I should try!

Lots of love,
